Ernest Warren Jr., Esq
Ernie Warren is the Managing Attorney at Warren & Sugarman Law Firm. He was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. He attended Willamette University where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics. He gained a Master’s of Business Administration for Business, Government and Not-for-profit Management from Willamette University, Atkinson School of Management before pursuing his career in law at Arizona State University College of Law. Upon obtaining his Juris Doctorate and passing the bar, Ernie hit the ground as a zealous advocate for the Portland community. Mentoring is a high commitment for him as he volunteers as a mentor to students, new lawyers, former clients, and the Portland Gang Violence Task Force.
Ernie has long been concerned with housing policy and justice and operationalized his passion by serving as General Counsel for Portland Community Reinvestment Initiatives (PCRI) Inc. Ernie has a history of fighting for affordable housing and addressing the aftermath of the housing crisis. Outside of his civil rights practice, Ernie is a passionate criminal defense attorney. He has served a diverse clientele and community. He is a savvy and successful trial lawyer who takes seriously his commitment to serve others with integrity.
His practice is primarily criminal defense, but he also covers civil work. He is well versed in all areas of law and has been the managing partner of a successful Portland law firm for 30 years.
As a trusted advisor by the DA’s office and a trusted member of the community, Ernie holds the DA’s office accountable with community funds by serving on the Community Budget Advisory Committee for the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office.
Ernie has served as general counsel for Portland Community Reinvestment Initiative, Inc., a nonprofit that focuses on affordable housing, for over 25 years.
Ernie is a reputable mentor. Ernie mentors clients, gang-impacted youth, students, young lawyers, lawyers new to Multnomah County, and the list goes on.
